In chapter 1 I learned about what a digital student was and about the ARCS Model. Apple Computer defines digital students or digital kids as kids who are (a) able to use multiple tools to communicate. (b) multitaskers who do several things at once with no problems, and (c) goal oriented as they pursue multiple goals at the same time. One thing that I do not understand is why do they only use the Apple Computer definition. Are there other definitions by other computer makers?

I also learned about the ARCS Motivational Model. This model was developed by John Keller in 1983 and is applicable to learning in the digital age. The model has four specific areas that could account for the differences in student effort. They are: Attention, Relevance, Challenge/Confidence, and Satisfaction/Success.

I new skill that I acquired since my last post was being able to post a blog. I am not so sure that it will be very useful in my educational career but I do think that it will help me better express myself and have more experience with on the spot writings. In a way I do think that it will help my educational career because I now know how to post a blog .

Today I was given my information about my volunteer hours that I have to complete before the end of the semester. I was very excited to be able to start my observation hours. I can not wait to be able to start working with young children and hopefully not fall out of love with teaching. In my Teaching Diverse Populations class today we took a multicultural awareness quiz which definitely opened my eyes to how much the media and the world bend the news to the way that they want to reveal it rather than how the world really is. My dad is coming up this weekend for the UAB game and I am very excited to see him. My friend is also celebrating his 22nd birthday on Saturday!!:)
